Senior Lift Technician
Senior Lift Technician (NVQ 4) | London & Home Counties
REClifts has been retained by a major lift company to find a high-calibre Senior Technician to act as the technical "top cover" for their London repair and service teams. This is a prestigious, specialist role for an engineer who has moved beyond routine maintenance and now thrives on solving the "unsolvable" problems.
If you are the person other engineers call when they are stuck, and you want a role that rewards your brain as much as your hands, this is the move for you.
The Role
This is a mobile technical support position covering Greater London and the Home Counties. You won't have a fixed route; instead, you will be the lead technical authority for a high-density portfolio of complex lifting technology.
- Technical Lead: Providing advanced diagnostic support for high-speed traction units, multiplex groups, and bespoke control systems.
- Complex Repairs: Overseeing major technical works, controller swaps, and sophisticated modernisation handovers.
- Testing & Commissioning: Assisting with the final commissioning of new installs and major refurbs to ensure they meet EN 81-20/50 standards.
- Mentorship: Coaching NVQ3 engineers in the field to level up the team’s overall technical ability.
Key Responsibilities
- Root Cause Analysis: Diagnosing intermittent "ghost" faults and complex electrical issues that standard service teams cannot resolve.
- Safety & Compliance: Carrying out SAFed/LG1 supplementary testing and ensuring all units are LOLER-compliant.
- Quality Audits: Performing technical audits on the portfolio to ensure maintenance standards are being met.
- Manufacturer Liaison: Working directly with R&D or factory technical departments to resolve recurring product issues.
- Technical Reports: Writing clear, professional technical reports for the office and high-profile clients (Managing Agents, Blue-Chip Corporates).
Candidate Requirements
- Mandatory: NVQ Level 4 in Lift Testing & Commissioning (or equivalent Technician-level qualification).
- Expertise: Mastery of various open and closed-protocol systems (e.g., Lester Controls, TVC, Kollmorgen, Arkel).
- Experience: Minimum 5–10 years in the lift industry with at least 2 years in a dedicated Technician/Tester role.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical clients and internal stakeholders.
- Logistics: Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across London and the Home Counties as required.
The Reward
Our client treats their NVQ4 Technicians as the "Elite" of their workforce, offering a package to match:
- Basic Salary: Market-leading (reflecting your Senior status) + London Weighting.
- Tech Kit: The latest diagnostic tablets, programming tools, and specialised testing equipment.
- Benefits: 25 days holiday, private medical insurance, life assurance, and a top-tier contributory pension.
- Stability: Working for a major global brand with a massive London presence and a clear career path into Field Management or Technical Training.
